Practical Outdoor Fountains - Make Your Own Garden Fountains

31
Outdoor fountains are the rage right now.
Almost everyone who has a house and a small garden or patio will have a type of water fountain as well.
No wonder since it adds a lot to the pleasant ambient of the place and it is indeed a charming home exterior decoration.
For outdoors you can find usually three types of fountains: for the garden, for your patio or backyard and for your lawn.
Did you know that you can actually make your own water fountain and it won't even cost you that much? To make your fountain for the patio you need some mosaic tiles.
First think up your design and create it on a sheet of acrylic so you are able to attach it to your external wall with wood pieces.
You can use a permanent marker to outline your mosaic design.
Then fill in your design with actual mosaic and ceramic pieces.
If your ceramic pieces are too big, you can break them with a hammer by placing them in a closed plastic bag and then wrapping them in a towel.
Once they are safely wrapped in, just hammer them lightly until you hear the pieces break.
Attach the tiles and your ceramic pieces to the acrylic and then use the wood strips to attach them to the acrylic and to the house with some strong adhesive.
Make sure the glue is waterproof.
You don't want rain to destroy your work.
Finally you can use a sealed planter to act as the reservoir for your little fountain.
Have fun.
The garden fountain will require some large rocks and 2 terracotta jug planters, one used for the reservoir and the other one as a side help for the water to flow in the reservoir.
Put the rocks next to each other in order to form a lightly elevated base and then use glue to bind together the side of the planter with the rocks.
Make sure again that the glue is waterproof, since the fountain will be outdoors.
Use some plastic tubing to run it through the drainage hose prior to make it water tight with plumber's putty.
Then connect this pipe with the pum of the fountain and place the reservoir below the planter.
This will ensure that the water flows directly into the reservoir.
Before turning on the pump make sure to fill the reservoir full with water.
The law fountain can be created by using a planter that is large and round, some embellishing stones and a fountain pump.
Seal the eventual drainage holes in the planter prior to use the stones to put them in the center.
Now add the pump and push the tubing up the hole so it hardly shows through.
Next fill the planter with fresh water approximately halfway up the mold and then turn on the pump.
Don't turn the pump on before you add the water to the planter.
These are just three ways to create your outdoor fountains and you can experiment with more ideas.
Once you start, you will get your creative juices flowing and you will be amazed at your own results.
