How to Eliminate Insurance
- 1). Check your insurance policy to see if there is any cancellation fee. Oftentimes you go in yearly cycles, in which case, if you opt out early, you are charged a fee. This information is stated in your insurance contract.
- 2). Contact your insurance agent. Depending on your policy, you may need to perform the elimination of your insurance in person.
- 3). Request to cancel your current insurance. Insurance agencies often put pressure on you to not cancel and may even offer incentives to stay with the company.
- 4). Refuse all offers to you until the company agrees to cancel your policy. The moment you cancel your insurance is the moment it takes effect, so if you are in an accident or become sick, your insurance is not going to cover you.
