DIY Dressing Table

    Table

    • It's not necessary to purchase a new table for your DIY dressing table. A small table or nightstand can work as a vanity, depending on how much space you need. Not everything has to be stored on the dressing table. You can utilize space under the table or a stack of drawers nearby to further organize makeup and beauty products. If you want to put storage underneath the table, go to your local craft store and select a few yards of fun fabric. It can be feminine or wild, it's up to you. Choose something that fits your personal style. Lay fabric over the table like a table cloth. Visit a local glass shop and have piece of glass cut that measures the same as the table's surface top. This can be done for $15 to $25 in most large cities. You can also inquire about having a mirrored glass cut to top the DIY dressing table. Place the table where you want it in your bedroom or walk-in closet.

    Organization

    • A dressing table is typically small. It will most likely not be large enough for your entire beauty product collection. If the bottom of the table is open, use stacked plastic drawers for your items. Store like items together. Hair accessories in one drawer, hair products in another, etc. Makeup should be also be stored together, keeping face products together, eye makeup together and lip products in designated areas. A small set of drawers can also be placed to one side of the DIY dressing table. On the table's surface keep items you regularly reach for such as your makeup brushes.

    Personal Touches

    • A mirror directly above the table will leave more space on the table for your things. Add personal touches with vintage bowls (available at any thrift shop) on the table for storing your go-to beauty items that you reach for every day. All other beauty products can be stored accordingly. Check a hobby store or thrift shop for unique plates. Your perfume collection can sit on top of a stylish plate. A minimum of one framed photo can sit on the table itself (you want to leave plenty of room for getting ready), but feel free to "frame" the mirror above your table with a bevy of personal photographs. Cork can be purchased in a roll, and you can custom cut two column-style pieces to flank either side of the mirror. This allows you to easily change out photos or magazine cutouts for inspiration when you're getting glam.
