Pull the wires from the ceiling cavity and remove the wire covers. Connect the wires to an electrical tester to make sure the power to the fixture is off. Cut the wires and lower the chandelier carefully.

    • 2). Unscrew or pry the electrical box from the hanger bar and pry or unscrew the bar from the ceiling. Slide the brace from the new chandelier mounting kit into the ceiling, footed side against the ceiling drywall. Rotate the brace, allowing the feet to penetrate the surface. Tighten the brace a few more turns with an adjustable wrench to secure the brace to the ceiling joists.

    • 3). Punch and pry one knockout plug from the electrical box included in the new chandelier hardware with a screwdriver and pliers. Attach a nonmetallic cable connector to the knockout hole. Thread 6 inches of the electrical cable from the ceiling cavity through the cable connector. Tighten the connector to secure the cable.

    • 4). Place a U-bolt on top of the fan brace and fit the support flange onto the bolt ends. Screw and tighten a nut onto each threaded bolt end. Fit the electrical box holes onto the bolts and screw and tighten a hex bolt onto each threaded end.

    • 5). Ask a helper to hold the fixture up to the ceiling. Align the mounting bar holes with the threaded holes on both sides of the electrical box. Screw the mounting screws through the bar and into the box.

    • 6). Attach the ground wire from the electrical cable once around the grounding screw, leaving the end of the wire protruding from the screw. Tighten the grounding screw and twist the protruding end around the ground wire from the chandelier wiring.

    • 7). Strip and expose 1/2 inch of the chandelier electrical wire. Twist the black chandelier wire around the black electrical cable wire and twist a wire cover over both wires. Repeat with the white wire.
