Section 139 of the Criminal Justice Act
- Section 139 applies to everyone within the United Kingdom except for those who require an article with a blade or sharp point in their work, for religious reasons, as part of a national costume, or for those who have a good reason or the lawful authority for having it in a public place.
- The section does not apply to folding pocketknives unless the cutting edge of its blade exceeds three inches.
- Anyone guilty of having any article with a blade or sharp point within the United Kingdom can be liable to face fines up to 1,000 pounds.
- Section 139 does not apply to the possession of articles with blades or sharp points on private property.
