How to Copy a Boot CD
- 1). Insert your boot CD into the disk tray, then exit out of any auto-play options that appear when you insert the disk.
- 2). Click on "Start," then "My Computer." Find your boot CD under the words "Devices with removable storage." Right-click on your boot CD and select "Explore" from the menu that appears.
- 3). Wait for the Windows Explorer window to display the contents of the boot CD. When it appears, hold down the right mouse button and highlight all of the contents of the boot CD. When they are highlighted, let go and select "Copy" from the menu that appears.
- 4). Click in an empty spot on your desktop with your right mouse button. Select "New" and "Folder" from the menu that appears. Name the folder, then open it and right-click inside. Select "Paste" from the menu that appears. Windows will then copy everything on your boot CD into that folder. When it finishes, take out your boot CD from the disk drive.
- 5). Insert a blank CD into the CD burner. When the auto-play options appear, select "Open writable CD folder using Windows Explorer" and click on the "OK" button at the bottom of the auto-play options window. Windows Explorer will then open a new window.
- 6). Open up the new folder you created on your desktop to hold the contents of the boot CD. Highlight all the contents of that folder with the right mouse button and select "Cut" from the menu that appears. Then, right-click inside the writable CD folder and select "Paste." This will move all the contents of your boot CD into this new window.
- 7). Click on "Write these files to CD" at the top of the writable CD folder. A window will then pop up and ask you to name the CD. Name it whatever you want and click on the "Next" button. Windows will then burn all the files from your boot CD to this new CD. You have now copied your boot CD.
