How to Treat a Squirrel Tail
- 1). Sever the tail of the squirrel at the base of the pelvis with a sharp knife.
- 2). Immerse the squirrel tail in a plastic container with isopropyl alcohol for 24 hours. Remove the tail and pour the alcohol from the container.
- 3). Dry the container with paper towels. Place the tail in the container and coat the tail with salt, thoroughly working the salt into all areas of the hair and skin. Allow the salt to sit on the tail for 72 hours.
- 4). Remove the tail from the container and shake as much salt from the tail as possible. Run a comb through the fur of the tail, pushing the teeth of the comb gently between the hairs down to the skin of the tail to dislodge any remaining salt particles. Give the tail a final shake to remove the loosened salt particles and fluff the hair with your fingers.
