The boy with the cut on his eye jumps up to help his friend and gets punched.
The big kid says, "Should've stayed down, Jack."
Jack goes down a couple of times and on the third time comes up with Boone. "Did you get her?" Boone asks. "That woman, did you get her?"
Jack looks further out into the ocean and sees someone calling for help and about to go under. Jack thinks for a moment, then brings Boone to shore. Kate and Charlie take an exhausted Boone from Jack and Jack turns around to try to save the woman, but she has gone under and Jack can't find her. Jack is upset that he couldn't save the woman's life and later, Kate comes to talk to him. She says the woman's name was Joanna, and that she was only on their plane because an ear infection grounded her for a couple of days in Australia. Jack sees the guy in the suit again and asks Kate if she sees him. Kate recognizes that he is exhausted and asks when he last slept.
"You're in my light comma Sticks," Sawyer says.
Shannon wants bug repellent and tells Sawyer she'll pay him, but he says her money is no good. She gets mad and stomps off.
Meanwhile, Kate goes through luggage and Claire asks if she's seen a hair brush.
Hurley finds Jack and tells him they're almost out of drinking water. Jack doesn't want to be in charge of the water, but Hurley and Charlie spout out ideas regarding rationing and finding water. Hurley thinks Walt's dog can find water. "Dogs can find pot and bombs, so I'm sure they can find water," Hurley says.
Boone is very angry, but Jack ignores him when he sees the man in the suit standing by the jungle. Jack runs after the man.
"Where is he?" Jack asks.
"Australia."

Jack's Flashback - Walk Away Now
A trickle of blood on a young boy's eye fills the screen. Then we get a full picture of a boy laying on the ground looking scared. Beside him another boy is up against a fence being punched in the stomach. A bigger kid says to the first boy, "Walk away now and you won't get your ass kicked."The boy with the cut on his eye jumps up to help his friend and gets punched.

Drowning
"Jack, Jack!" Charlie yells. "There's someone out there!" Charlie points to the ocean where Jack sees someone struggling to stay afloat. Jack's Flashback - Father's Study
A hand extends from a chair in a study, holding a drink with ice tinkling the glass. Young Jack walks in to talk to his father. His father asks how he got the black eye and Young Jack says that he was helping a friend. His father goes into a long speech on what it takes to be a leader. Young Jack needs to know there are consequences for getting involved in other peoples' business. "Consequences like that shiner on your eye."The Drowned Woman
Boone tells Jack that he could have made it back to shore and that Jack should have saved the woman. Jack says that Boone was drowning.Boone is very angry, but Jack ignores him when he sees the man in the suit standing by the jungle. Jack runs after the man.
Jack's Flashback - Go Get Your Father, Jack
Jack, as an adult, talks to his mom in his father's study. She tells him that his father is missing and that Jack must find him. Jack protests, saying he hasn't talked to his father for two months. He says he can't do it. "You don't get to say 'I can't,'" she says. "Not after what you did.""Where is he?" Jack asks.
"Australia."
