How to Use Salt to Catch Mullet
- 1). Make stale bread by leaving it exposed to air for a day or so. Break the bread into small, 2 inch pieces.
- 2). Place the pieces of bread in a bowl. Add a few drops of water to each piece of stale bread.
- 3). Pick up a piece of stale wet bread and place it in the palm of your hand.
- 4). Add a sprinkle of finely ground sea salt to the wet bread.
- 5). Knead the bread between the palms of your hands to form a dough. Roll the dough using pressure from your hands to form a salty dough ball. Continue adding salt and forming dough balls for mullet. Store the dough balls in a plastic storage bag until ready for use.
- 6). Place a dough ball on a size 6 bait holder hook rigged with a bobber. Cast the baited rig into the water and allow the bread and salt to dissolve slowly, creating a chum slick. Maintain a tight line as you wait for a strike.
