Difference Between Stainless Steel & Aluminized Steel Bakeware

8

    Advantages

    • Aluminized steel bakeware is durable, long-lasting and an superior conductor of heat that cooks food evenly. Under normal conditions, aluminized steel will not rust, bend or warp. Stainless steel bakeware is sturdy, nonporous and sanitary. Stainless steel is a highly stable metal that cleans easily.

    Disadvantages

    • Stainless steel is not the best heat conductor and does not cook baked goods evenly or consistently. Stainless steel also leaves a heavy carbon footprint and can leach harmful chromium and nickel into food. Aluminized steel costs more.

    Availability

    • It is still easier to find stainless steel bakeware in most kitchen stores and department stores, while aluminized steel is considered a luxury item that can only be found in certain specialty shops and product lines.
