How do I Get Good Sports Shots With a Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 Camera?
- 1). Attach the lens you are using to the Sony Alpha A-1000 and turn on the camera.
- 2). Set the camera's ISO by turning the left selector wheel, located on the top of the camera to ISO, then select 400 for shooting outdoors and 1600 for indoors.
- 3). Turn on the camera's "Super Steady Shot." This is Sony's image stabilization program. It will assist you in getting crisp shots. Since most sports photography is shot using longer telephoto lenses, image stabilization features and mono-pods are great tools.
- 4). Set the camera's exposure mode to manual by turning the dial on the top right hand side of the camera to manual. Set the shutter speed to 1/250th of a second and adjust the aperture to obtain a correct exposure. The adjustment wheel just in front of the shutter release will set the shutter speed.
- 5). Adjust your aperture by holding the exposure compensation button located on the rear of the camera and then adjusting the same wheel. The meter is displayed in the viewfinder; once the exposure is set you won't need to adjust it again unless the lighting conditions change. There are sports shooting programs on the camera, however; using the manual mode and setting the exposure allows the camera to respond fractionally quicker when you press the shutter release to take the picture.
- 6). Set the shutter drive to continuous by pressing the button located on the top right of the camera just next to the exposure wheel and rotating the adjustment wheel until the shutter is set to continuous.
