This fun craft project was submitted by a visitor named Brianna. She helped her young sister make this as part of a school project. They recycled many ordinary trash items into this lovely garden.

Materials Needed:

• Dryer Sheets
• Pipe Cleaners
• Craft or Popsicle Sticks
• Drinking Straws
• Cardboard Box
• Construction Paper
• Empty 2-Liter Bottle
• Paint
• Empty Play-Dough Container (optional)
• Glue

Here is how Brianna explained how her and her sister made their recycled garden...

The flowers were made out of 2 painted dryer sheets, placed one inside the other. They put paint into styrofoam bowls and dipped each dryer sheet individually. They let them dry and then put them together and pinch them in the center.

They wrapped a pipe cleaner around where they pinched and twist it to hold the dryer sheets. 'Fluff' up the dryer sheets and shape to resemble a flower. Then, you slip the pipe cleaner down into a drinking straw to form the stem.

They used a shoe box for the flower box, cutting out one side and then decorating the rest with construction paper. They created the fence using craft sticks.

The flowers were held in place by cutting the bottom off of the 2-liter bottle and placing it, upside-down, into the bottom of the box. They then poked each flower stem into the bottle bottom. (You may have to cut slits in the bottle bottom first.) They then cut light and dark green construction paper to make grass and used it in the bottom of the box to hide the bottle bottom.

Brianna personally designed the Play-Dough watering can. She cut the lid almost in half and used the rim of half of the lid to make a handle. She used a drinking straw for the spout.

They also added a sun created using a lid of a butter container (Blue Bonnet) because of the color. We used a clear scrap piece of plastic to tape to the back of the box and attached the sun at the top. Yellow construction paper would also work for the sun.
