How to Hide a Hunting Stand
- 1). Attach your hunting stand to your selected tree. Some stands use a network of adjustable straps to hold structure in place, while others attach (such as climbing tree stands) using the hunter's weight and a simple pinching lever system. Consult the stand's user manual for more information. The ideal tree will have low-level branches that will aid in stand concealment and an excellent vantage point over well-known game trails and feeding areas.
- 2). Climb into your stand and drape the camouflage netting around the upper section of your tree stand. The netting will hang downward, thereby covering the lower portion of the stand.
- 3). Attach the netting to your tree stand with zip ties. Ensure that each zip tie runs through several layers of netting fabric to prevent accidental tearing.
- 4). Tuck the lower portion of the camouflaged netting under your tree stand, if possible, and zip-tie the netting in place. The netting will serve to conceal the metallic underside of your tree stand, which is most visible to your prey on the ground.
- 5). Allow a few trains of netting to hang below your stand. When the wind moves past your stand, the trains will move with it, giving a natural, organic quality to your sturdy metal stand.
- 6). Remove the camouflaged netting at the end of the season by snipping the zip ties with pocket scissors or by cutting through them with a penknife. Make sure to collect the snipped zip ties and remove them from your hunting grounds.
