How to Remove Flesh From a Deer Head Before Mounting
- 1). Place a large, water-filled pot on the stove. There should be enough water in the pot to fully submerge the deer head. Set the stove burner to high.
- 2). Add two tablespoons of laundry soap to the water. Continue heating the water until it comes to a rolling boil.
- 3). Hold the skull by the antlers and place it into the water. The skull, but not the antlers or the antler bases, should be submerged.
- 4). Hold the skull in the boiling water for 15 minutes. Then, remove the skull and pull as much tissue from the head as possible with a knife and pliers. Repeat this process until you have removed everything from the head that you can with the knife and pliers.
- 5). Run a hard-bristled brush gently over the skull to remove any remaining flesh.
- 6). Clean the skull by running water over it once you have removed all of the skin.
