Jin's Flashback - Jin's Promotion

Jin is in Mr. Paik's office apologizing, but Mr. Paik says he didn't call Jin here to reprimand him, he called him to promote him. He will now be Mr. Paik's special assistant.
Mr. Paik asks if Jin knows Byung Han. "The Secretary for Environmental Safety?" Jin asks.

Mr. Paik tells Jin to deliver Byung Han this message, "I am very displeased."

Later, Jin knocks on a door and Byung Han answers.

He asks who Jin is and Jin says he works for Mr. Paik. Byung Han lets him in. His daughter is watching TV. She's watching Hurley on TV!

Jin says that he has a message and Byung Han looks nervous and says, "Please, not in front of my daughter."

Jin says, "Mr. Paik is displeased with you. That's all."

Byung Han is relieved and wishes there was some way he could apologize. As a thank you to Jin, he gives him his daughters puppy (the same puppy we saw Jin give to Sun in an earlier episode - Episode 1x6, House of the Rising Sun).

Sayid Discusses Shannon with Boone

Sayid tells Boone that he wants to talk to him about Shannon. "It's very possible your sister and I are going to become more than just friends."
Boone wonders if this is some cultural thing that Sayid is getting his blessing. Sayid says, "I was extending a courtesy, not asking your permission." He walks away, but Boone stops him.

"Let me tell you about my sister," Boone says. "She likes older men, guys who can take care of her." He explains that once she gets what she wants she'll move on.

Sawyer Finds Jin

The next morning, Jin wakes up alone in the jungle. He washes his burnt hands in a stream. Sawyer comes out of nowhere and kicks him. "You messed up my ride, Chief."

Shannon's New Life

Shannon is building something and Sayid comes over. She thinks he's going to help her but he says she is capable of doing it on her own and maybe she should get someone else to help. She figures out that Sayid has been talking to Boone, and she storms off to find him.
Shannon finds Locke and asks where Boone is, but he doesn't know. She tells Locke to tell Boone to stay out of her business. Locke asks if she likes Sayid. "Are you serious?" she asks.

"Because if you do," Locke says, "what's it got to do with your brother? You're a grown woman. Sure, you can yell at Boone 'til you're blue in the face, but all you're doing is giving him what he wants, your attention."

Locke continues with, "Everyone gets a new life on this island, Shannon. Maybe it's time you start yours."

Meanwhile, Sawyer has Jin's hands tied and is leading him through the jungle asking if he's scared.

Jin's Flashback - Almost a Meal Together

Jin is blindfolded and Sun leads him to the table. She removes the blindfold to reveal a feast. "You made this?" he asks.
"I thought we could enjoy a meal. Together," Sun says.

Jin is happy. His cell phone rings and he puts it away without answering it. "Don't worry. No work tonight." Sun thanks him.

The house phone rings and Jin answers it. Sun looks sad.

Jin goes to Mr. Paik's office. "Why is my factory closed? I'm losing millions because you were too incompetent to deliver a simple message."

Jin is confused. Mr. Paik says, "You'll be driving my associate to Byung Han's house tonight. He'll show you how to deliver a message."

On the way to Byung Han's house the associate tells Jin to keep the motor running and when he returns to only drive the speed limit and take the car to the riverbank.

After the associate enters the house, Jin bursts in and begins beating Byung Han. "The factory opens tomorrow," Jin says. Before he leaves he whispers to Byung, "I just saved your life."

Jin returns home and washes his hands in the bathroom. Sun wants to know what happened. Jin tells her he was working and that he does whatever her father tells him to do. She slaps him and storms out. Jin looks at himself in the mirror and cries.
