Sunrise Lakes California Fishing Information
- Sunrise Lakes are open to fishing year-round, but because of the high elevation and lasting snow, late June to September is the best time to go.
- A fee must be paid to enter Yosemite National Park; the general fee is $20 per vehicle, valid for all passengers for seven days. To fish, each angler older than 16 must display a valid California fishing license on an outer layer of clothing.
- At the west end of Tenaya Lake, along Tioga Road, look for a parking lot with a sign that says “Sunrise." Reaching Sunrise Lakes from this point requires a hike of four to six hours.
- Anglers will find various species of trout, including brook, browns and rainbows. The daily limit is five trout; the possession limit is 10 trout. Brook trout must be 10 inches or longer.
- According to the National Parks Service website, no live bait or unpreserved roe or fish eggs are allowed. Fishermen may use preserved salmon eggs and artificial lures.
