How to Remove the Axle in a Chevy Trailblazer
- 1). Put wheel chocks around the front wheels of the Trailblazer. Lift the rear of the vehicle with the jack. Put jack stands under the frame and under the axle. Take off the rear wheels with the tire iron.
- 2). Unbolt the driveshaft from the pinion flange on the axle with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Lift the driveshaft out of the axle and hang it by the underside of the frame with the heavy-duty bungee cord. Disconnect the brake line that runs to the axle with a line wrench, then pull off the vent hose to the axle with your hands.
- 3). Unbolt the shock from the axle with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Remove the parking brake cables from the back of the brake housing with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket.
- 4). Unbolt the axle from the rear suspension with the 1/2-inch ratchet and socket. Lift the axle off the suspension with the jack, then pull the jack stands out from under the rear axle. Lower the jack and pull the axle out from the back of the Trailblazer.
