Do We Need E-Petitions?
If you have always wanted to influence government policy in the UK, you can create an e-petition about anything that the government is responsible for. If it gets at least 100,000 signatures, it will be eligible for debate in the House of Commons.
The first debate of an e-petition is about the Hillsborough disaster some years ago, time is being set aside for this right now. The e-petition for a referendum on the EU has already passed 100,000 votes and will be eligible for a debate in due course.
Such other e-petitions are:-
"Close Driving Test Centres and Sell the Land & Buildings
Responsible department: Department for Transport
The inequality of Driving Test standards is appalling. Most Driving Test Centres pass less than 50% of applicants. The worst Driving Test Centre is Wood Green with 27.78%. The best pass rate is Isles Of Scilly with 85.71%. We should close all these centres down and sell off the properties and raise millions of pounds for the treasury and let driving schools assess the competence of pupils and issue a 'pass certificate' which can be sent to the DSA for a full license."
There is a pdf produced by Rant On UK! Forum.
you can download giving all the stats for the test centre's. This data has already been passed to Philip Hammond the Minister For Transport with a recommendation he close all test centre's and thereby save not only money, but frustration of learner drivers too.
Another e-petition is:-
"BBC To Allow Equal Airtime For All Political Parties
Responsible department: Department for Culture, Media and Sport
With the apparent left-wing bias in the BBC, we don't see enough of the other political parties in the UK and what their aims are. This is very unequal. We see the UKIP and not the BNP, we see the Conservative more than the Labour or Lib Dems. We should pass a law to make our state TV and Radio give equal airtime to all parties. Vote for this now."
Another that needs more votes is:-
"Close DVLA Swansea And Sell Off The Land & Buildings
Responsible department: Department for Transport
Another 'cut' the coalition government should make is the complete closing of the DVLA at Swansea. Most work is done by the Post Office and very little by the DVLA which have 5,000 people soaking up a considerable amount of money in wages every year, to do very little work any more. Whatever little work the DVLA do can be transferred to the Post Office who can have a new 'server farm' installed with 'back up' tapes from Swansea. This remote megalith at Swansea with considerable land and property once closed will allow the sale of parcels of land and buildings to the highest bidder raising billions for the treasury - one tower block alone cost 100 million to build. To most people in the UK their local Post Office is far more 'user friendly' than the DVLA will ever be. Plus key documents will never have to be sent through the post with the danger of fueling yet more i.d. fraud if they go missing. Plus the 'SORN' law should be repealed."
Thousands of e-petitions have been created by members of the public since the start of the website at:-

Don't ever say the government does not listen to the people if you do not bother to vote here!
