How to Repair a Registry When the System Can't Boot
- 1). Insert the Windows 7 installation disk into the CD/DVD drive of the computer and reboot the computer. Press the "Spacebar" on the keyboard when the "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD" appears. Select your language, time and keyboard preferences by clicking on the drop-down boxes in the "Install Windows" window that appears and then click the "Next" button.
- 2). Select the "Repair your computer" link and then in the window that follows click on the Microsoft Windows 7 entry from the list of operating systems and click the "Next" button. Select "System Restore" to start the application.
- 3). Select the "Choose a different restore point" radio button if available and then click the "Next" button. Choose a restore point from the list presented with a date and time that is prior to when the system failed to boot and then select the "Next" button. Then choose the "Finish" button.
- 4). Click the "Yes" button in the "Once started, System Restore may not be interrupted - Do you want to continue?" window. System Restore will commence and then reboot the computer.
- 5). Select the "Close" button on the System Restore window that appears after boot up to complete the System Restore.
