41
  • 1). Go to support-au.canon.com.au and download "cnijfilter-common_2.80-1_i386.deb" and "cnijfilter-mp610series_2.80-1_i386.deb" (see Resources).

  • 2). Go to launchpad.net and download "libcupsys2_1.3.9-17ubuntu3.9_all.deb" (see Resources).

  • 3). Go to the MP610 Linux project page on sourceforge.net and download "ppdMP620-630fr-1.5.tar.gz" (see Resources).

  • 4). Navigate to the directory to which you downloaded the files. Double-click "cnijfilter-common_2.80-1_i386.deb" to install it; double-click "cnijfilter-mp610series_2.80-1_i386.deb" to install it; and double-click "libcupsys2_1.3.9-17ubuntu3.9_all.deb" to install it.

  • 5). Double-click "ppdMP620-630fr-1.5.tar.gz" to open the archive with Archive Manager and extract it. Copy the enclosed PPD file to your "/usr/share/cups/model/" directory. Copy "cifmp610.conf" to your "/usr/lib/bjlib/" directory, which overwrites the original Canon file.

  • 6). Attach the printer to your computer with the USB cable. You should now be able to print with it. To configure it, click the "System" menu, then "Administration" and "Printing."
