The Proper Seal

• The seal is an important because you want to make sure water is not allowed to collect beneath the faucet and drip down onto the floor. Doing the equivalent of wearing suspenders and a belt would stand you in good stead, especially with the pedestal sink faucet, since this faucet will be a little more difficult to access for repairs than the faucet on a sink atop a vanity. Make sure you put down the gasket that comes with the faucet, then fortify it with putty seal. The combination should be the best defense against water going where it's not wanted.
  
  

The Flexible Supply

• Attach flexible water supplies for hot and cold water to the properly identified faucets. You don't want to find yourself in the middle of the night reaching for the cold faucet and scalding yourself with hot water. Tighten the connection carefully but securely with an adjustable wrench. Use either a regular adjustable wrench or a faucet wrench which is designed specifically for this purpose.
  
  

The Drain Line

• For the drain line you can choose between PVC, which is stiff, or an accordion-like drain line. Either will work well. Attach the top portion of the drain line to the drain portion on the sink, and the bottom of the drain line into the trap. Adjust the trap into the position that allows for the best drainage, then tighten the drain line at the top and at the bottom by hand. If you use an accordion drain line, the adjustment will be easier.
  
  

Inspect Your Work

• Turn on the hot and then the cold water and inspect all the connections. If you find any leaks, tighten the connections with a wrench.
