These words will be heard by half of all men and one-third of all women in the United States and by tens of millions around the world. Dr. E is a passionate cancer patient advocate, double-board certified surgeon, powerful speaker, author, award winning educator, and son of two cancer patients. He has partnered with hundreds of patients & their loved ones during their cancer journeys, allowing him to develop his Own Your Cancer philosophy. Dr. E's Own Your Cancer message empowers cancer patients & their loved ones in understanding the basics of their disease, actively participating in their cancer care decisions, and remaining in control of their lives.
Dr. E is a member of an small group of surgeons board certified in both general and colon & rectal surgery. His extensive training included two years as a Research Fellow in the Surgical Oncology Lab at the University of California, San Diego as well as rotations at the renowned City of Hope National Medical Center. During his surgical internship, residency, and fellowship, and then in his subsequent practice, including as a member of the surgical faculty at the Stanford University School of Medicine, Dr. E focused on the care of patients suffering from abdominal and pelvic cancers. A dynamic speaker and award winning educator, Dr. E is frequently invited to share his Own Your Cancer patient empowerment philosophy with radio, television, and print media audiences.
Dr. Edelstein received a Bachelor of Science & Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from Stanford University. After receiving his Doctor of Medicine from the prestigious University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, Dr. E spent seven years in surgical training, including two as a Research Fellow in the Surgical Oncology Lab, at the busy University of California, San Diego. Next, Dr. E was accepted into the competitive Colon & Rectal Surgical Fellowship at the University of Minnesota. Dr. E then began his surgical practice, focusing on the care of cancer patients, first in San Diego and then as a surgical faculty member at the highly regarded Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. E is a member of a small group of surgeons board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery.
