What Makes Thai Massage Special?

There are several types of massage in existence today.
But my personal favorite is Thai massage.
Well, Swedish massage is my second favorite.
But what makes Thai massage really special? Let's talk about its origin first.
Thai massage did not really originate from Thailand.
It was first developed in India and was later integrated in Thai medicine.
This therapy has been utilized by monks to treat and prevent common illnesses.
Now, let's talk about what this type of therapy feels like.
To better understand Thai massage, think of Yoga first.
This therapy is likened to yoga.
But unlike yoga, you don't have to do anything because the therapist will do all the stretching and manipulations.
What the therapist does is to utilize his or her hands, feet, legs and knees to move you around into different stretches that are similar to yoga.
Instead of using different massage strokes (i.
e.
petrissage, effleurage, etc.
) it uses acupressure.
Through acupressure, it compresses strained and tensed muscles.
It also focuses on mobilizing your joints.
The use of the different massage strokes is very minimal.
And although it uses acupressure, this therapy is still relaxing and energizing.
This is ideal for people who want their muscles to be compressed.
This is also good for people who want their muscles to be stretched and their joints to be actively mobilized.
I love this therapy because it compresses my strained muscles.
The relief from tension may not be immediately noticed.
In fact, I usually experience it the day after the therapy.
But during and after the therapy, I usually feel more relaxed, calmer and more energized.
With Thai massage, the therapist rarely uses essential oils.
If they do use essential oils, it's very minimal.
Also, you don't have to take off your clothes.
As long as you're wearing something comfortable, you're good to go.
But remember not to wear tight-fitting clothes because this can limit your mobility.
Wear something that's loose and comfortable at the same time.
There are some spa clinics that let you change into their own clothes.
This is fine too.
As for the length of the therapy, it usually depends on your preference.
Thai massage can last for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Generally, Thai massage reduces stress and relaxes your muscles.
It gives you an overall sense of well-being also.
And because the therapist moves your joint, this therapy increases your joint's range of motion.
It likewise improves blood circulation, just like the other types of massage.
