How to Make a Video Transmitter
- 1). Set up a video camera to capture the intended events such as live feeds from a vehicle checkpoint to monitor the flow of traffic. The camera should be in a location such that it is not too far away from where you intend to set up the modulator to minimize on the video cable that you will use. Make sure that the camera is in good working condition and that the video captured is clear. If the camera requires an external power source, be sure to tap the power to the camera appropriately, maybe through plugging it directly onto a nearby wall socket.
- 2). Set up the transmitter in a secure location. Choose a location that only allows authorized persons to gain access to it as the transmitter is delicate. Connect the camera to the modulator using a video cable, which is fixed to the video input pin on the modulator. Some modulators also have an audio input pin in case you want to transmit sound, too. Acquire help from a professional if need be to help connect the cables to the modulator. Connect the power cable to the modulator and tap it to a power source.
- 3). Place the antenna at a convenient location such that there are no physical hindrances to the signal such as large buildings around it or thick walls. The antenna should be placed in an open area preferably on the roof top and mounted on a mast. This is to ensure that the signals sent are clear enough after reception by the receiver. Connect the antenna to the RF output of the modulator after the antenna is set up correctly.
- 4). Turn on the system and tune in your TV set to the frequency that you are transmitting in to test if the transmitter is working properly. Note that in some countries or states, it is illegal to transmit these signals unless you have a broadcasting license.
