  Located on the border between Wisconsin and Illinois, just east of Highway 12, Twin Lakes is a small Midwest town of just over 5,000 residents. A popular vacation destination because of its lake shore location, the small town also has several restaurants that entice Illinois residents to make the jaunt into Wisconsin just to sample their cuisine.
  
  

The Sands at Niko's Restaurant & Lounge

• Recently revamped to mimic the Rat Pack era Martini Bar, Niko's menu mixes traditional Greek cuisine with American classics and traditional Midwest dishes. Over 22 varieties of martinis are available to choose from. Greek options include the flaming cheese Saganaki appetizer, Greek Salad with pit-roasted lamb and the Greek Chicken entrée. American classics include steaks, filets and salmon, while on Thursdays you can enjoy all-you-can-eat-ribs. Fridays feature the traditional Midwest all-you-can-eat fish fry and potato pancakes. Homemade pizzas and soups are also offered on the menu.

Mad Dan's Restaurant

• A Twin Lakes favorite that's been around since the 1980's, Mad Dan's offers a traditional American menu featuring many seafood entrees and local catches, including Braised Walleye, Pan-fried Smelt, the Friday standard all-you-can-eat Fish Fry and a special all-you-can-eat Crab Legs on Thursdays. Other menu favorites include prime rib, burgers and chicken strips.

Manny's Snack Shack

• Considered a local institution, Manny's is a tiny restaurant only open for breakfast and lunch. A classic Mom & Pop diner serving large portions for reasonable prices, the restaurant attracts long lines on the weekends. Guests will often find Manny himself manning the grill as he serves up favorites like French toast, biscuits with gravy, omelets and broasted chicken. Guests with small children will find that the restaurant's tight floor plan doesn't leave room for high chairs.
