How to Decorate a Door for a Hispanic Celebration
- 1). Use colored sheets of butcher's paper to create a colorful background for decorations on your door. Use a color that's commonly associated with the holiday, or use two or three colors that match the colors from the flag of the country where the holiday is celebrated. Choose red, green and white for Mexico, red and yellow for Spain or red, white and blue for Puerto Rico.
- 2). Use pre-cut, cardboard alphabet letters to place the name of the holiday on the door. Use "Feliz Navidad" for a Christmas celebration, "Feliz Cumpleanos" for a birthday party or "Feliz Dia del Padre" for a Father's Day gathering.
- 3). Tape a variety of images commonly associated with the holiday to the door. Choose skulls, flowers and candles for the Day of the Dead, when friends and family members remember those who have passed away. For a Fiesta de Quinceanera -- a girl's 15th birthday celebration -- opt for a picture of a birthday cake loaded with candles, a photo of the birthday girl and a tiara, which many girls wear for the occasion.
- 4). Attach three-dimensional items to your front door that represent the holiday. Choose colorful paper flowers for Cinco de Mayo, small candy skeletons for el Dia de los Muertos, a Cuban flag for Cuban Independence Day or pretty pastel ribbons for a girl's quinceanera.
