Liquid Worm Fertilizers
- Liquid worm fertilizer, also called worm tea or compost tea, is made by soaking worm castings in water. The water is then poured off and strained if necessary. Castings can be placed in a bag made of pantyhose if desired, to eliminate the need to strain the water.
- Worm tea is used to fertilize houseplants as well as vegetable gardens and decorative outdoor plants. It is the choice of many gardeners because it is a completely natural product. It will not burn plant roots.
- The Red Worm Composting website recommends that the liquid be aerated with an aquarium pump as part of the brewing process, but this is optional. Other nutrients, such as molasses, can be added to increase beneficial microbes if desired.
