Psychologically Dealing With Acne

27
Acne is not just a zit on the face; it is a big blow to the personality of a person as it just ruins the look of the person. You may have tried various vitamins for acne and acne skin care products but do not seem to be making much headway. With a look-conscious society and having drop-dead gorgeous people around you, there could not be a worse condition than having to deal with acne. Unfortunately, it is not just the women bearing the brunt of acne, but the men too are equally tormented. You may be doing all you can medically, but what about the psychological damage done due to acne? Have you ever thought about it? If no, then high time you did.

The fact is that you can't stay behind closed doors forever just because you have acne marks on your skin. Agreed you may not look like Tom Cruise or Angelina Jolie, but then who actually looks like them? You have to first accept your look to have the world accept them. If the hatred for your look is so strong that it comes across to the people you meet with, how can you even expect social acceptance? You need to come to terms with the fact that OK, you are not looking your best but then you could have been looking worse too. So it's fine and not as bad as some calamity having struck you.

Give yourself some pep talk to feel more confident in dealing with the acne scars on your skin. Be ready with answers for people who would surely come to offer their condolences for your acne. You need to be confident and at ease with your skin condition for people not to take pity on you the minute they see you. The bottom line is to be comfortable the way you are; even if you are not really confident do not let it come across. The world is not the place to share your woes.

Secondly, do not be obsessed with telling everyone how you once had a lovely glowing skin and then suddenly the acne popped up. You really think someone is interested in knowing how you looked earlier when they can see how you are looking now? The only message that you would be giving across is that you are seeking sympathy. Acne is amongst the last topics you need to be talking about, forget discussing.

Be as competent as ever in whatever you do so that the focus of people shifts from your face to your work. Remember that it is not always about looks; by just having an acne free skin you are not going to become more acceptable socially. Yes, people do tend to look at your looks first, but later as they interact with you, your nature and your competence is what makes people want to be with you. You have to first respect yourself to make others respect you. Earn the respect and it would not be long before people have accepted you with your acne. It's not worth wasting all your life just for a silly zit, is it?
