How to Fix Power Seats in a Saturn VUE
- 1). Ensure that your Saturn Vue has a VIN number of 2S817374 or lower. Verify that your seat has a problem by sitting in it and moving right or left or getting up off of it. These things can all produce the squeak.
- 2). Take the front seat with the squeak out of the vehicle. If you need instructions on how to safely remove the seat, reference the "Front Seat" part of the "Seats" section in a 2002 VUE Body Removal and Installation Service Manual.
- 3). Clean the seat hook with a 50/50 Isopropyl alcohol and water mixture.
- 4). Cut four, 3-inch long strips of transparent UHMW-PE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) film tape. Fold the pieces of tape lengthwise so that the tape strips are half of what they began. Create a cut in the crease by folding the pieces of tape again, but this time, width-wise.
- 5). Slip the cut opening of the tape over the horizontal edge of the seat hook. The goal is to put the top of the cut opening on the horizontal edge of the seat book. Push the back so that the crease touches the vertical portion of the seat hook. When this is achieved, you firmly secure the tape to the seat hook by pressing down.
- 6). Wrap the tape around the front edge of the seat hook to ensure that half of the tape is located on the inboard side while the other is on the outboard. The tape's bottom edge should always be parallel to the seat hook's rear horizontal surface.
- 7). Repeat the process for every hook. Put the seat back into the vehicle. Get in your seat and verify that the repair fixed your squeaking problem.
