Lake Washington Fishing Guide
- Typically weighing five to seven pounds, sockeye salmon return to Lake Washington and are open to anglers for a limited season each year, according to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW).
- WDFW recommends fishing for sockeye by trolling slowly from a boat in Lake Washington at depths of 50 to 80 feet. Use a four to six pound weight and a bare hook colored red or black.
- Fishing within 100 yards of either floating bridge is prohibited by WDFW. Popular spots for sockeye include the southern tip of Mercer Island, near Beaux Arts on the eastern shore and near Leschi north of the I-90 bridge.
- Trout fishing is open year-round in Lake Washington, with varying size and limit requirements each season established by WDFW. In the spring of 2010, up to five trout may be kept per day at a minimum size of 12 inches, while in the winter months the size requirement is lifted.
- All anglers over the age of 14 must have a current freshwater license to fish in Lake Washington.
