How to Vacuum an Above-ground Pool
- 1). Assemble the pool vacuum, following the specific assembly instructions provided. Some pool vacuums consist of a few pieces that insert into one another. It usually has a debris bag or some other dirt collection container that you attach to the vacuum.
- 2). Connect one end of a garden hose to the vacuum and connect the opposite end of the hose to a water spigot. Turn on the water and adjust the pressure until the suction works well enough to quickly pick up dirt and debris. For automatic models, turn the filter pump off, remove the skimmer basket and place an included adapter plug in the bottom of the skimmer's suction line. Pull the end of the hose through the skimmer opening and connect it to the suction line. Turn the pump on to start the suction.
- 3). Sweep the head of the pool vacuum gently over the bottom surface of the pool liner until all dirt and debris is removed. If using an automatic model, allow the vacuum to clean the pool by itself until its clean.
- 4). Turn off the water supply and disconnect the hose from the vacuum.
- 5). Unhook the debris collection container and dispose of dirt and debris in an outdoor trash container. Rinse the debris container and allow it to air dry.
