The United Arab Emirates or UAE, consist of 7 emirates Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman and Fujairah. In 1971 UAE was established, this was after they were freed from the British protection.
The growth of Dubai formed in 19th century; each state in 18th century was led by Sheikh and his tribe, which was the most influential tribe in the area, but in 19th century when the members of the Bani Yas tribe which was led by Sheikh Maktoum Bin Butti left Abu Dhabi and migrated to Dubai, here in this city he found an independent Sheikhdom.
In 20th century, Dubai became known as the main center for port of the Trucial Coast, lots of trading companies came to Dubai. Traders from India and Europe soon came to know Dubai as the center of trading and from there on the city quickly established a famous trading name around the world. Dubai was then known for leading center for trade of gold and pearls. The British remained in the area to protect the vessels until 1968.
When the British withdraw form the city Sheikh quickly took over and brought the 7 individual emirates together to form UAE.
