How to Replace a Fishing-Rod Handle
- 1). Cut away the remaining old cork with a lathe. You'll want to reach the interior metal bar for easy attachment of the new handle.
- 2). Measure the length of the old handle and cut the new handle to length with the jig saw.
- 3). Sand the cut end of the new handle with 120-grit sandpaper. Sand with the grain of the cork to smooth out the wood.
- 4). Cover the wood rod in wood glue.
- 5). Slide the new handle into position, making sure it is flush with the pole. Allow the glue to dry before using the fishing rod.
