How to Change the Drum Seal on a GE Dryer
- 1). Move your GE dryer away from the wall and unplug it.
- 2). Use a screwdriver to remove the two screws from the door and then remove the door.
- 3). Remove the screws from the top panel, and then set the top panel aside. Remove the two final screws holding the frame in place.
- 4). Pull up the drum on the GE dryer and slide it out without pulling any of the wires connected to the control panel.
- 5). Pry off the old drum seal using your hands. Use a scraper to remove any old adhesive on the drum.
- 6). Insert the new drum seal face down and wrap it gently around the drum so that it fits in place.
- 7). Apply the adhesive that came with the seal to the edges so that it lightly spreads over the drum.
- 8). Allow at least one hour for the adhesive to dry and then place the drum back into the unit.
- 9). Reinsert the screws for the frame, and then place the top panel back on. Insert the two screws back into the top panel.
