How to Replace a Driver's Side Mirror on a 1998 Suburban

26
    • 1). Roll down the driver's side window.

    • 2). Disconnect the negative cable from the battery under the front hood. Do this only if you have power tilting mirrors. It is to prevent accidental shock.

    • 3). Remove the small panel covering the mirror on the inside of the door. It is located above the main door panel, between the windshield and driver window.

    • 4). Disconnect the wires that are being held together by a plastic clip. If you do not have a power tilting mirror, you will not see the wires and can skip this step.

    • 5). Remove the three bolts with a socket wrench and set them aside.

    • 6). Remove the mirror and set the new one in its place.

    • 7). Screw in the three bolts and reconnect the wires, if applicable.

    • 8). Replace the panel, pushing it in firmly until it pops into place.
