Northern California Lesbian Weekend

62
Women's Weekend 2.0 was held in the Russian River, a little more than an hour north of the San Francisco Bay Area. The Russian River  area, and Guerneville, in particular, is known as an LGBT-friendly destination. In fact, lesbians and gay men have been traveling to Guerneville since the 70s and it's gay-friendly, hippie vibe continues today.

There are plenty of reasons to visit the Russian River, even if Women's Weekend were not happening.

The river itself is a kayaker or canoeist dream, with clear slow waters running through town.  The days were hot enough that a dip in the cold river was a refreshing wake-up.

Nearby vineyards invite wine enthusiasts and there are plenty of beautiful hiking trials, including Armstrong Woods with serene redwood grove, featuring trees more than 1,400 years old. There are golf courses, scenic bike roads, great restaurants and cute shops all through the Russian River valley.

Guerneville itself has wonderful restaurants and gay bars, which during Women's Weekend are overflowing with lesbians.

There are many events and activities in the Russian River to check out. The Weekend we were there, we attended a gay rodeo and also met many gay men in town for bear weekend. So while lesbians were not the only ones in town, townsfolk and other tourists were welcoming and friendly.
