Guitar Playing Lessons - Parts of the Guitar and What There For

33
The guitar produces one of the most pleasing sounds of any instrument and has been around for many thousands of years and is played worldwide.
When starting out with guitar playing lessons one of the first things to learn is about the guitar, its parts and what they are for.
The three basic parts of the guitar are the neck, headstock and body, below I review what each of these parts are for.
1.
The Body: Consider this the sound chamber.
When a string or series of strings are struck the note resonates in the body before coming out the hole giving us the melodic sound we hear.
2.
The Neck: This is attached to the body and holds the frets.
A fret is what allows one to play the various notes and chords.
3.
The Head Stock: The strings of a guitar are strung over the body, up the neck to the head stock.
On the head stock you will a have knob for each string, these knobs are used for tuning the instrument.
Alone each piece is useless, a guitar without a body can produce no music at all, without the neck and frets on the neck you can't play the various chords and notes and with the head stock your instrument will never be in tune.
As you can see, knowing the parts of the guitar is vital when taking guitar playing lessons.
You now know how each part is dependent on the other and how if one part is out of tune or sync with the others you will not be able to produce the beautiful music this instrument is capable of.
