Amazing Kitchen Renovation Ideas to Transform Your Tired and Worn Out Kitchen

10
For weeks I watched my mum scour magazines for kitchen renovations ideas. After work she would get in her comfy clothes, sit in front of the television while my dad watched the news and pour through design magazines. She would use sticky notes to bookmark the pages she liked, which often ended up being nearly every page.

For mum, she had been dreaming about having her kitchen renovated for years. With my dad essentially allergic to the kitchen, it was my poor mum that had to battle through the demanding task of cooking in a kitchen that was falling apart. The stove had broken down about a year ago and she was forced to cook on portable hot plates.

To make things even worse, the oven switch had no numbers left on it, so you had to make an educated guess how high to turn the oven on. The interior was also not one to brag about, with pale pink walls and worn, dark wood features. The pieced €resistance was the weird circle shaped table that was connected to the bench tops. We never used it to dine out and there weren't any seats around it. Instead, we used it at the place to chuck letters and other knick knacks that we didn't need.

As you can see, a new kitchen was well over due. This time mum wanted a fully functioning kitchen that not only operate to full capacity but also looked amazing. Tired of the old fashioned style of her old kitchen she wanted something ultra modern. With this in mind, she decided to visit a specialist to find out some up-to-date kitchen renovation ideas. The following is what that specialist shared with my mum.

Monochromatic
A monochromatic palette doesn't mean a kitchen has to be boring. Black and white are all the rage is modern kitchen designs and can be utilised to create an interesting and unique design. Try using white as your base incorporating accents of black to make a statement.

Blue
If you are more into colour than a monochromatic colour scheme, the colour to choose is blue. The choice is up to you when it comes to blue, with a variety of different blue hues being in favour including teal, pale blue and royal blue.

Shelving
Any home cook will tell you there is never enough storage space. When you are planning a new kitchen, it is vital you think about storage. There are lots of smart ways to enhance storage space including cool shelving that is open to let you display your finest crockery or cool appliances that you have on display.

Keep it neutral
If you like a neutral colour palette it doesn't mean it has to be cold. You can warm it up by incorporating a range of different neutral colours including ivory, grey and cream. Another great idea to warm up a room is adding different textures in the colour palette.

My mum utilised a few of these tips to create the kitchen of her dreams. She chose a monochromatic colour scheme and enhanced storage by adding a huge island in the centre with heaps of storage underneath. Mum now loves to cook in her new kitchen and her cooking has definitely gone above and beyond, now that all the appliances and oven are functioning properly.
