Guide Review - DK Eyewitness Travel London
DK Eyewitness Travel London is my personal favorite of all the London guidebooks. It has all you need to know from the Survival Guide to wonderfully detailed illustrations of major attractions. I have learned more from this book than from actually visiting some of the places in London!
The book is easy to use and has an uncluttered layout. DK are well-known for their use of white backgrounds and leader lines highlighting the key parts of an image and I find this style very helpful as it makes it so quick to find out what you really want to know.
The only thing I would change would be the Street Finder maps but only because I'm a big fan of the London A-Z which is the 'official' street map to London. I do know the DK street finder pages are accurate though as I checked some of the original data!
I was lucky enough to work on the first edition of DK Eyewitness Travel London so I know the attention to detail that the DK Eyewitness Travel series has to maintain.
This guide is revised and reprinted annually so do check you have the latest edition, but unlike other guides I feel this guide book is one you will want to keep and enjoy after your first visit to London and will inspire you to come back again and again.
