29
    • 1). Evaluate your dog for signs of nephrotic syndrome. A dog that experiences this condition may have vision changes and become more lethargic. In addition, he may have strained breathing and seem disinterested in eating.

    • 2). Take your canine to the vet. If your dog is having difficulty breathing, it is important to keep him calm. Speak in a soothing voice and remain calm yourself. Dogs are intuitive and pick up on our emotions. Your vet should run blood and urine tests on your canine to make a proper diagnosis.

    • 3). Design a treatment plan with the vet. If your dog has a more serious case of nephrotic syndrome he may need to stay at the animal hospital for treatment. Antibiotics may be given accompanied by intravenous fluids. A dog with this condition sometimes also has high blood pressure. Treatment for this issue will need to be administered also.

    • 4). Discuss modifications to your dog’s diet. Changing your canine’s eating habits can prevent the re-occurrence of this condition.

    • 5). Monitor your canine closely. When you bring your canine home from the animal hospital keep a close eye on him. Watch for signs of appetite loss or breathing difficulty.
