The lime green awareness ribbon represents Lymphoma awareness, Lyme Disease awareness and Muscular Dystrophy awareness.
Lymphoma is the name for a group of blood cancers that develop in the lymphatic system. The two main types are Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Hodgkin Lymphoma Is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow Is one of the most curable forms of cancer Is named for Dr.
Thomas Hodgkin, who first noted a trend of cancer cases in the lymph nodes in 1832.
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system that generally develops in the lymph nodes and lymphatic tissues. In some cases, it involves bone marrow and blood. It isn't only one disease, it is actually a diverse group of blood cancers that share a single characteristic in how they develop.
Lyme Disease is a bacterial illness caused by a bacterium called a "spirochete." Certain ticks frequently found on deer from various locations carry the bacterium in their stomachs. Lyme disease is spread by these ticks when they bite the skin, permitting the transmission of the bacterium through the skin to infect the body. Lyme disease is a tick-borne disease that is not contagious from an affected person to someone else. Lyme disease can cause abnormalities in the skin, joints, heart, and nervous system.
Muscular Dystrophy is a group of more than 30 genetic diseases characterized by progressive weakness and degeneration of the skeletal muscles that control movement.
Some forms of this disease are seen in infancy or childhood, while others may not appear until middle age or later. The disorders differ in terms of the distribution and extent of muscle weakness, age of onset, rate of progression, and pattern of inheritance.
