How to Make Crown Moulding Corners Fit
- 1). Put on the safety goggles.
- 2). Adjust the saw to a 45-degree angle.
- 3). Place the back of the moulding against the backstop of the on the small side of the saw cut angle.
- 4). Slide the moulding over until the back corner is at the cut point along the back stop. When the saw comes down, the saw will cut across the moulding, making the front side shorter than the back side.
- 5). Plug in the power miter saw and turn it on.
- 6). Keep your hands clear of the cutting area and, using a slow and continuous motion, cut through the moulding.
- 7). Turn off and unplug the saw.
- 8). Repeat the cutting of the second piece of moulding, switching the angle to the other side perpendicular to the backstop.
- 9). Take the two cut pieces of moulding and join them together with the cut surfaces against one another. Mounting the moulding in this placement will allow for the moulding's profile to wrap around the corner. The moulding can be mounted using finish nails or wood glue, whichever meets your needs.
