How to Paint Bedrooms Red
- 1). Smooth any cracks or imperfections on the surface of the walls with a coat of drywall filler or mud. Application instructions will vary by product but will be included on the side of the package. Allow at least 24 hours to dry, then sand the wall smooth with sandpaper. Wipe the walls clean with a moist cloth.
- 2). Apply blue painter's tape to all surfaces you do not intend to paint red, such as windows and various trim. Place a drop-cloth on the floor to prevent paint from dripping. Allow the drop-cloth to overlap with the bottoms of the walls and doors.
- 3). Pour red paint to the brim of the paint tray. Press the roller in the paint tray and wipe off any extra paint against the side of the tray.
- 4). Apply the roller to the wall, and begin painting. Roll the paint across the walls in an easy motion up to the edges of the painter's tape, applying an even coat until all surfaces are covered. Add additional coats to provide thicker coverage. Cover any outlets throughout the room with red paint.
- 5). Allow the paint to dry for at least 24 hours before retouching. Dry times will vary based on the brand and variety of paint you use.
