11
Grocery shopping is one of the preferred past times of domesticated people like me. And while carrying out my normal routine in the grocery, I was picking out the freshest onions from the produce section when I recalled a discussion I had with my niece on the benefits associated with raw onion. Yum, I'm sure your eyes watered thinking of biting into a tasty, fresh, raw onion - or maybe not. If you're not a supporter of onion, maybe I can encourage you otherwise with this article (exactly the same way my niece is now an onion supporter).

Ready to discover the wonders of onion and see how a simple little raw onion may help your health in a big way? Get your onions set! The onion's real name is Allium cepa and is a member of the Lilliaceae (or Lily) family. They're grown worldwide but my personal favorite is the Valdalia onion cultivated in Georgia, US.

As far back as 4000 BC, it has been said that onions have been utilized for medicinal reasons, particularly a cure-all for several illnesses. Vapors of onions were utilized to alleviate pain during World War 2. That's right, they didn't have a large amount of the medicines we have now, so onions were put to use. But you must also take into account that during those years, times were so bad, onions were dirt cheap so why wouldn't you use them for medicinal purposes right? But hey, before you start chopping onions to get healthier, go to a doctor first.

Raw onions contain volatile oil, allicin, alliin, flavonoids, phenolic acid, and sterols. By just taking a look at those ingredients, how come you have to wonder about its power?!
