How to Clean a Leather Baseball
- 1). Put on protective gloves (rubber or vinyl) so you don't get dirt or cleaner on your hands. Holding the baseball in one hand, apply a white leather shoe cleaner over the whole surface. Some white shoe cleaners come with an applicator sponge, others don't. If the one you bought does not, use a clean, dry sponge from your kitchen to apply the cleaner.
- 2). Scrub the baseball with a dry sponge. Use a toothbrush to gently scrub the cleaner into any significantly stained areas.
- 3). Wipe the baseball off with a damp cloth. Inspect it for remaining stains. For tough stains on leather, Mrs. Clean USA recommends spraying aerosol hairspray on the stain. Wipe it off with a soft cloth. You may need to repeat the process a few times.
- 4). Wipe down the baseball again with a damp cloth. Use a dry cloth to buff it dry. If you notice scuff marks, apply a white leather scuff remover.
