    • 1). Open the Run dialog by clicking "Start" and "Run."

    • 2). Open the Registry Editor by typing "regedit" into the Run dialog and pressing "Enter."

    • 3). Expand the "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT" hive by clicking on the "+" sign next to it. Continue expanding the following keys and sub-keys: "SystemFileAssociations > image > shell > edit" and click on the "Command" sub-key or folder.

    • 4). Double-click the "(Default)" registry entry in the right pane of the Registry Editor window.

    • 5). Replace the text in the "Value Data" box with "%systemroot%\system32\mspaint.exe %1" and click "OK."
