How to Manage Safari Bookmarks in an iPhone

34

    On the iPhone

    • 1). Open the Safari browser on your iPhone and click on the icon that looks like a book. This will take you to the bookmarks menu allowing you to begin editing and organizing bookmarks directly from your phone.

    • 2). Click on the Edit button found at the bottom left corner of the screen. Doing this causes two new icons to appear, one allowing you to delete a bookmark---a red button---and a list button that allows you to drag and drop bookmarks into folders or organize them in a list. The method you prefer, will be based how many bookmarks you have on your iPhone. The more bookmarks you have, the more advantageous having folders to organize them becomes.

    • 3). Create new folders for bookmarks in categories related to the website being saved. For example, websites like CNN or MSNBC could be put in a folder labeled News, or websites like the Food Network could be put in a folder called recipes. Ultimately, the user is in complete control of how bookmarks are displayed and managed and can do this very easily directly from the phone itself.

    Syncing with a Computer

    • 1). Connect your iPhone to iTunes using the USB connector cable on your PC or Mac. Once the device appears in the iTunes menu, you may select your iPhone and begin to organize bookmarks synched directly with your computer and any default browser. For Windows users, Safari bookmarks on the iPhone can be synched with Internet Explorer or Firefox, and the same is true of any Mac.

    • 2). Select the Info button at the top of the screen in iTunes. This is located directly next to the Summary tab and allows you to customize what is shared from your computer with your iPhone when connected.

    • 3). Scroll down to the section marked Other. In this section, you will see a checkbox next to an option to synch Safari bookmarks. Checking the box will automatically synch all Safari bookmarks with your computer and allows you to manage, organize and create bookmarks that will simultaneously appear in your iPhone Safari browser each time you connect or synch with iTunes.
