How to Make Wall Art With 2x4s
- 1). Find scraps of 2-by-4 pieces of wood in your garage or from friends and family. Cut three pieces down to a 3.5-by-3.5-inch block and two of them to 7-inch lengths.
- 2). Choose pieces of wallpaper, vinyl or colored paper that are red, blue and white (or cream). Cut the blue square "sky" piece of paper to fit the face of one of the square 3.5-by-3.5-inch pieces of wood. Cut a red piece to fit on the side of one of the two 3.5-inch blocks and a white piece to fit on the side of the other 3.5-inch block. Cut another red piece to fit on the side of one of the 7-inch pieces of wood and a white piece to fit on the other 7-inch piece of wood.
- 3). Use glue or a clear adhesive used to hold puzzles together, to affix the colored papers to the wood. Glue the blue square on the square face of one piece of wood. Glue the other red and blue pieces of paper to the sides of the other four pieces of wood.
- 4). Sand the edges of the blocks to round the corners.
- 5). Paint or write in marker "Fourth of July!" on the 7-inch red paper.
- 6). Assemble the art project by stacking the blocks so the 7-inch red block is on the bottom, then the 7-inch white block, then the short red block and short white block. Make sure all the blocks are flush against the right side. The blue-papered block will complete the wall art to the left of the two short blocks, which you assemble so the square blue face is showing.
- 7). Draw or paint one large star or several small white or black stars on the blue sky.
- 8). Glue all the pieces together so they don't shift around, and complete the creation by tying a ribbon around the ensemble so the bow is on top.
