Pies are making an appearance at many weddings in lieu of cakes and these flaky creations can be decorated as beautifully as a cake with a little imagination. Fruit pies, chocolate pies, cream pies, and even pumpkin pies can be adorned with gum paste flowers, fondant cut outs or pretty pulled sugar or isomalt design elements. Start with a delicious pie as the base and then stack several on a cake stand for a non-traditional look. This pie is made with golden delicious apples, but any sweet firm apple would be lovely.
