But these come with the name-brand price tag, and even finding them on sale can still be costly. • Putting together an outfit is a good way to think about what cute clothes to accumulate. It is advisable to buy some clothes the next size up, since you can be assured that you child will grow into them.
  
  For girls, basic leggings with a flowered top, a pink top with ribbons or a basic T-shirt with a cute cartoon character on it are a few options that also allow for flexibility in a toddler's activities. Dresses and skirts in traditional pink are always a winner. Reds, purples and turquoise-like blues are more modern colors for girls.
  
  For boys, brown and khaki pants or shorts work well with the available assortment of graphic T-shirts, which are best with cartoon characters. A polo or rugby striped top is also a fashionable way of displaying your "little man."

Shoes can be expensive, so make sure what you get is functional and attempts to match with the outfits you choose if you have a tight budget. Focus more on a great hat or scarf. For winter, a fun, colorful hat always catches the eye. In the summer, a headband for girls or outfit-matching hairpins are great. A hat that protects a toddler from the sun can be darling. Do not invest too much on these items, as with an active toddler, they can often come up missing and you'll have to buy a new one.
